The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Hughes Springs Mustangs (Hughes Springs, TX) and the visiting Pewitt Brahmas (Omaha, TX), observed Hughes Springs's basketball team overcome Pewitt by a margin of 34-17.

The Mustangs (7-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Atlanta (Atlanta, TX). The Rabbits come into the non-league challenge with a 6-6 record. In their last challenge, Atlanta defeated Linden-Kildare (Linden, TX), 45-40, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Brahmas battle the Bowie Pirates (Simms, TX) in a 2A Region II District 16 challenge, on Tuesday, December 10. Pewitt will attempt to better on its 3-1 season record. The Pirates come into the challenge with a 11-8 record after their 42-24 non-league win over Harts Bluff (Mt. Pleasant, TX).
