Effingham Flaming Hearts (Effingham, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), 63-48 in a league bout.

With the win, Effingham upgrades its record to 2-4 on the season. The Flaming Hearts host Mahomet-Seymour (Mahomet, IL) to play the Bulldogs in a Apollo bout on Friday, December 9. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 2-3. Mahomet-Seymour won 58-44 in their recent league bout against Charleston (Charleston, IL)

Next up, the Greenwave play the Richland County Tigers (Olney, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 10. Mattoon will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 4-1 record after their 58-51 non-league loss to Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, IL).
