Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), 39-34 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Polk County upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Wolverines host Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC) to play the Rams in a non-league bout on Friday, December 9. The Rams go into the bout with a record of 0-5. Highland Tech lost 47-44 in their recent non-league bout against Piedmont Community Charter (Gastonia, NC)

Next up, the Warhorses play the Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 9. Owen will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The Gryphons go into the bout with a 4-0 record after their 49-44 non-league win over Asheville (Asheville, NC).
