Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Newport Cubs (Newport, OR) and the visiting Cottage Grove Lions (Cottage Grove, OR), saw Newport's basketball squad wallop Cottage Grove by a count of 77-38.
With the victory, Newport upgrades its record to 1-1 on the campaign. The Cubs host Klamath Union (Klamath Falls, OR) to play the Pelicans in a non-league challenge on Friday, December 8. The Pelicans come into the challenge with a record of 1-0. Klamath Union won 75-64 in their recent non-league challenge against North Valley (Grants Pass, OR)
Next up, the Lions play the Gladstone Gladiators (Gladstone, OR) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 8. Cottage Grove will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Gladiators come into the challenge with a 1-1 record after their 44-40 non-league loss to Scappoose (Scappoose, OR).
