In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Newton Tigers basketball team scored a close 53-46 win over the Forest Bearcats.
The Tigers (4-2) will now prepare for their contest against West Jones (Laurel, MS). The Mustangs come into the non-league contest with a 1-8 record. In their last contest, West Jones edged Greene County (Leakesville, MS), 55-46, in a non-league contest.
