In Friday's league contest, the visiting Sanford Spartans basketball team scored a close 74-71 triumph over the Thornton Academy Trojans.

The Spartans (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Edward Little (Auburn, ME). The Red Eddies go into the non-league contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Edward Little nipped Oxford Hills (South Paris, ME), 61-30, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Trojans confront the Massabesic Mustangs (Waterboro, ME) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, December 10. Thornton Academy will attempt to better on its 0-1 season record. The Mustangs go into the contest with a 0-1 record after their 57-44 league loss to Biddeford (Biddeford, ME).
