Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) backers went home thrilled Saturday as they saw their basketball team smash the visiting Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM), 72-22 in a non-league contest.

The Chieftains (2-1) will now prepare for their contest against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM). The Eagles go into the non-league contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Navajo Prep smashed Miyamura (Gallup, NM), 69-36, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Skyhawks confront the Cuba Rams (Cuba, NM) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, December 9. Newcomb will attempt to better on its 2-2 season record. The Rams go into the contest with a 0-1 record after their 47-44 non-league loss to Dulce (Dulce, NM).
