The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Vernon Lions (Vernon, TX) and the host Petrolia Pirates (Petrolia, TX), observed Vernon's basketball team overcome Petrolia by a margin of 48-37.

The Lions (4-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Memorial (Wichita Falls, TX). The Mavericks come into the non-league challenge with a 4-7 record. In their last challenge, Memorial dropped by Boswell (Fort Worth, TX), 47-40, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates battle the Prairie Valley Bulldogs (Nocona, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, December 10. Petrolia will attempt to better on its 2-5 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 1-5 record after their 49-34 non-league loss to Chico (Chico, TX).
