Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Anson Bearcats (Wadesboro, NC), 33-25 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Union Academy upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Community School of Davidson (Davidson, NC) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 14. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 3-3. Community School of Davidson lost 48-30 in their recent non-league bout against Bishop McGuinness (Kernersville, NC)

Next up, the Bearcats play the Montgomery Central Timberwolves (Troy, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 13. Anson will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Timberwolves go into the bout with a 3-4 record after their 86-48 non-league loss to Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC).
