Northumberland Indians (Heathsville, VA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA), 48-35 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Northumberland upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Indians travel to Nandua (Onley, VA) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 10. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 1-0.

Next up, the Blue Devils play the King William Cavaliers (King William, VA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 13. Mathews will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Cavaliers come into the bout with a 0-4 record after their 38-36 non-league loss to Middlesex (Saluda, VA).
