The Newton Tigers basketball team scored 64 points and restricted the visiting Forest Bearcats to 48 in the Tigers non-league victory on Friday.
The Tigers now sport a 4-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Northeast Jones for a non-league contest on Saturday, December 9. Newton will battle a Tigers team coming off a 54-49 non-league loss to Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 3-6.
The Bearcats (3-5) will now prepare for their contest against Kosciusko (Kosciusko, MS). The Whippets come into the non-league contest with a 6-3 record. In their last contest, Kosciusko prevailed over Leake Central (Carthage, MS), 49-44, in a non-league contest.
