The South Pittsburg Pirates basketball team scored 81 points and restricted the visiting Whitwell Tigers to 34 in the Pirates league victory on Friday.

The Pirates now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Lookout Valley for a non-league contest on Tuesday, December 12. South Pittsburg will battle a Yellowjackets team coming off a 47-41 non-league loss to St. Andrews-Sewanee (Sewanee, TN). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 1-8.

The Tigers (0-8) will now prepare for their contest against Grundy County (Coalmont, TN). The Yellowjackets come into the non-league contest with a 6-1 record. In their last contest, Grundy County triumphed over Sequatchie County (Dunlap, TN), 51-43, in a non-league contest.
