Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting North Buncombe Black Hawks (Weaverville, NC), 41-39 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mitchell upgrades its record to 1-1 on the campaign. The Mountaineers travel to Madison (Marshall, NC) to play the Patriots in a non-league bout on Friday, December 15. The Patriots come into the bout with a record of 0-6. Madison lost 51-25 in their recent non-league bout against East Henderson (East Flat Rock, NC)

Next up, the Black Hawks play the North Henderson Knights (Hendersonville, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 12. North Buncombe will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Knights come into the bout with a 3-3 record after their 70-47 non-league win over Enka (Enka, NC).
