The Grand Island Islanders (Grand Island, NE) basketball edged the host Buena Vista Bison (Omaha, NE), 40-37 in Monday's non-league bout.

The Islanders now possess a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Omaha North for a non-league test on Wednesday, December 10. Grand Island will encounter a Vikings squad coming off a 63-50 non-league win over Columbus (Columbus, NE). The Vikings record now stands at 2-1.
