Effingham Flaming Hearts (Effingham, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs (Mahomet, IL), 50-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Effingham upgrades its record to 3-4 on the season. The Flaming Hearts host Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IL) to clash with the Rams in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 10. The Rams go into the bout with a record of 5-2. Mt. Vernon won 71-49 in their recent league bout against Althoff Catholic (Belleville, IL)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Taylorville Tornadoes (Taylorville, IL) in a Apollo bout, on Tuesday, December 13. Mahomet-Seymour will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Tornadoes go into the bout with a 0-8 record after their 72-42 non-league loss to Tolono Unity (Tolono, IL).
