Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting North Clay/Clay City (Louisville, IL), 66-57 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 6-1 on the season. The Eagles travel to Flora (Flora, IL) to play the Wolves in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 10. The Wolves go into the bout with a record of 3-4. Flora lost 61-45 in their recent league bout against Carmi-White County (Carmi, IL)

Next up, the play the Gallatin County Hawks (Junction, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 10. North Clay/Clay City will attempt to upgrade on its 4-4 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 2-4 record after their 67-43 league win over Pope County (Golconda, IL).
