In Friday's league outing, the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) basketball squad edged the host Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA), by a count of 34-31.

The Maroon Tide (4-1) will now prepare for their outing against Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA). The Bears go into the Mountain Empire outing with a 2-2 record.

The Eagles now hold a 0-4 record. They play next when they travel to Bland County for a Mountain Empire outing on Tuesday, December 13. Auburn will clash with a Bears squad coming off a 56-53 non-league win over James Monroe (Lindside, WV). The Bears record now stands at 2-2.
