Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Winston Academy Patriots (Louisville, MS), 47-31 in a league bout.

With the victory, Simpson Academy upgrades its record to 13-3 on the campaign. The Cougars host Lamar (Meridian, MS) to play the Raiders in a MAIS 5A District 2 bout on Thursday, December 15. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 1-5. Lamar lost 55-40 in their recent league bout against Leake Academy (Madden, MS)

Next up, the Patriots play the Leake Academy Rebels (Madden, MS) in a MAIS 5A District 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Winston Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record.
