Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the host J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), saw George Wythe's basketball squad overcome J.I. Burton by a tally of 50-41.

With the victory, George Wythe improves its record to 4-0 on the campaign. The Maroons travel to Giles (Pearisburg, VA) to confront the Spartans in a Mountain Empire challenge on Friday, December 15. The Spartans come into the challenge with a record of 2-2. Giles lost 69-43 in their recent league challenge against Auburn (Riner, VA)

Next up, the Black Raiders confront the Patrick Henry Rebels (Glade Spring, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, December 14. J.I. Burton will attempt to improve on its 1-2 season record. The Rebels come into the challenge with a 0-8 record after their 51-31 non-league loss to Twin Springs (Nickelsville, VA).
