The Mitchell Mountaineers basketball squad (Bakersville, NC), was crushed 57-33 in Tuesday's non-league battle with the visiting Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC)

With the victory, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy betters its record to 6-0 on the season. The Gryphons host Carolina International (Concord, NC) to battle the Comets in a non-league contest on Friday, December 12. The Comets come into the contest with a record of 0-5. Carolina International lost 1-0 in their recent non-league contest against Garinger (Charlotte, NC)

In their next game, the Mountaineers battle the Swain County Maroon Devils (Bryson City, NC) in a non-league match, on Wednesday, December 10. Mitchell will attempt to advance on its 0-2 season record. The Maroon Devils enter the match with a 0-3 record after their 60-37 non-league loss to Franklin (Franklin, NC).
