Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) and the host Rockbridge County Wildcats (Lexington, VA), saw Alleghany's basketball squad hold off Rockbridge County by a count of 57-52.

With the victory, Alleghany upgrades its record to 8-12 on the campaign. The Mountaineers travel to James River (Buchanan, VA) to play the Knights in a Three Rivers challenge on Friday, February 3. The Knights come into the challenge with a record of 11-9. James River lost 57-35 in their recent league challenge against Radford (Radford, VA)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Turner Ashby Knights (Bridgewater, VA) in a Valley challenge, on Friday, February 3. Rockbridge County will attempt to upgrade on its 8-11 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 4-15 record after their 73-45 league loss to Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg, VA).
