Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Crownpoint Eagles (Crownpoint, NM), 82-57 in a league bout.

With the victory, Thoreau upgrades its record to 9-11 on the campaign. The Hawks host Newcomb (Newcomb, NM) to play the Skyhawks in a 3A District 1 bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Skyhawks come into the bout with a record of 12-7. Newcomb lost 81-21 in their recent league bout against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Eagles play the Navajo Pine Warriors (Navajo, NM) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 3. Crownpoint will attempt to upgrade on its 2-17 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 10-9 record after their 80-40 non-league win over Northwest (Shiprock, NM).
