El Cerrito Gauchos (El Cerrito, CA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Bethel Jaguars (Vallejo, CA), 47-41 in a league bout.

With the victory, El Cerrito upgrades its record to 3-7 on the campaign. The Gauchos travel to Salesian College Preparatory (Richmond, CA) to play the Pride in a non-league bout on Friday, February 2. The Pride come into the bout with a record of 16-8. Salesian College Preparatory won 46-15 in their recent league bout against St. Patrick-St. Vincent (Vallejo, CA)

Next up, the Jaguars play the Vallejo Redhawks (Vallejo, CA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 3. Bethel will attempt to upgrade on its 3-8 season record. The Redhawks come into the bout with a 0-5 record after their 76-51 league loss to Saint Mary's (Albany, CA).
