Lordsburg Mavericks (Lordsburg, NM) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Cloudcroft Bears (Cloudcroft, NM), 50-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Lordsburg upgrades its record to 10-9 on the season. The Mavericks travel to Mescalero Apache (Mescalero, NM) to clash with the Chiefs in a 2A District 3 bout on Saturday, February 3. The Chiefs go into the bout with a record of 7-9. Mescalero Apache lost 29-21 in their recent league bout against Capitan (Capitan, NM)

Next up, the Bears clash with the Carrizozo Grizzlies (Carrizozo, NM) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 3. Cloudcroft will attempt to upgrade on its 4-14 season record. The Grizzlies go into the bout with a 4-15 record after their 41-39 league loss to Hondo Valley (Hondo, NM).
