In Thursday's non-league match, the host Copper Basin Cougars basketball team scored a good 41-31 triumph over the Polk County Wildcats.
In their next game, the Cougars face the Lookout Valley Yellowjackets (Chattanooga, TN) in a 1A District 5 match, on Friday, February 2. Copper Basin will attempt to move on its 11-8 season record. The Yellowjackets enter the match with a 6-7 record after their 58-20 non-league loss to South Pittsburg (South Pittsburg, TN).
With the defeat, Polk County moves to 4-12 on the year. The Wildcats host McMinn Central (Englewood, TN) to face the Chargers in a 2A District 3 match on Friday, February 2. The Chargers enter the match with a record of 21-2. McMinn Central won 87-20 in their recent league match against Sweetwater (Sweetwater, TN)
