In Thursday's non-league challenge, the Central Regional Golden Eagles (Bayville, NJ) ice hockey team nudged the host Toms River North Mariners (Toms River, NJ), by a margin of 5-4.
The Golden Eagles now possess a 6-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Freehold Township for a non-league challenge on Friday, February 2. Central Regional will clash with a Patriots team coming off a 6-3 non-league loss to Old Bridge (Old Bridge, NJ). The Patriots record now stands at 7-7.
The Mariners (1-14) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Rose (Belmar, NJ). The Purple Roses enter the non-league challenge with a 3-11 record. In their last challenge, St. Rose was edged by St. John-Vianney (Holmdel, NJ), 11-2, in a non-league challenge.
