In Thursday's non-league match, the visiting East Columbus Gators basketball team scored a good 62-52 triumph over the Lakewood Leopards.
In their next game, the Gators meet the South Columbus Stallions (Tabor City, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, February 2. East Columbus will attempt to better on its 5-9 season record. The Stallions enter the match with a 0-7 record after their 73-31 league loss to Pender (Burgaw, NC).
With the defeat, Lakewood moves to 0-11 on the year. The Leopards host Union (Rose Hill, NC) to meet the Spartans in a non-league match on Friday, February 2. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 7-8. Union won 51-45 in their recent league match against Neuse Charter (Smithfield, NC)
