Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) boosters left the game satisfied Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the host Cloudland Highlanders (Roan Mountain, TN), 71-32 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Mitchell upgrades its record to 10-7 on the year. The Mountaineers host Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC) to face the Cougars in a 1A/2A Western Highlands match on Tuesday, February 4. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 15-2. Mountain Heritage won 77-46 in their recent league match against Avery County (Newland, NC)

The Highlanders now sport a 3-13 record. They put it on the line next when they host North Greene for a 1A District 1 match on Friday, February 7. Cloudland will face a Huskies squad coming off a 78-67 league win over University School (Johnson City, TN). The Huskies record now stands at 16-4.
