The J.I. Burton Black Raiders basketball team scored 66 points and limited the visiting George Wythe Maroons to 62 in the Black Raiders non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Black Raiders now have a 15-1 record. They play next when they travel to Rye Cove for a Cumberland game on Tuesday, February 4. J.I. Burton will confront a Eagles team coming off a 50-36 league loss to Twin Springs (Nickelsville, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 8-6.

With the loss, George Wythe falls to 13-3 on the campaign. The Maroons host Galax (Galax, VA) to confront the Maroon Tide in a Mountain Empire game on Monday, February 3. The Maroon Tide go into the game with a record of 13-1. Galax won 40-35 in their recent league game against Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA)
