Cumberland Pirates (Toledo, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Arcola Purple Riders (Arcola, IL), 51-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Cumberland upgrades its record to 15-12 on the season. The Pirates travel to Argenta-Oreana (Argenta, IL) to play the Bombers in a Lincoln Prairie bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Bombers go into the bout with a record of 14-15. Argenta-Oreana lost 77-38 in their recent non-league bout against Maroa-Forsyth (Maroa, IL)

Next up, the Purple Riders play the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights (Arthur, IL) in a Lincoln Prairie bout, on Tuesday, February 14. Arcola will attempt to upgrade on its 13-13 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 12-16 record after their 55-51 non-league loss to Dieterich (Dieterich, IL).
