In Friday's league outing, the Central Knights (Providence, RI) basketball squad edged the visiting Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI), by a margin of 55-50.

The Knights (13-5) will now prepare for their outing against Mt. Pleasant (Providence, RI). The Kilties go into the State Championship outing with a 7-11 record. In their last outing, Mt. Pleasant was tipped by Barrington (Barrington, RI), 61-43, in a league outing.

The Sentinels now own a 6-7 record. They play next when they travel to East Providence for a State Championship outing on Sunday, February 12. Smithfield will clash with a Townies squad coming off a 58-55 league win over East Greenwich (East Greenwich, RI). The Townies record now stands at 11-6.
