Texas High School Basketball - Mathis topped by Taft

The Taft Greyhounds basketball team scored 64 points and restricted the visiting Mathis Pirates to 55 in the Greyhounds league victory on Friday.

The Greyhounds now sport a 11-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Odem for a 3A Region IV District 29 contest on Tuesday, February 14. Taft will battle a Owls team coming off a 65-39 league loss to Aransas Pass (Aransas Pass, TX). The Owls record now stands at 18-12.

The Pirates (12-21) will now prepare for their contest against Goliad (Goliad, TX). The Tigers come into the 3A Region IV District 29 contest with a 14-13 record. In their last contest, Goliad prevailed over George West (George West, TX), 47-45, in a league contest.
