The Nome-Beltz Nanooks basketball team scored 50 points and restricted the host Valdez Buccaneers to 37 in the Nanooks non-league victory on Saturday.
The Nanooks now sport a 14-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Barrow for a 3A Western contest on Friday, February 16. Nome-Beltz will battle a Whalers team coming off a 63-51 league win over Bethel (Bethel, AK). The Whalers record now stands at 8-8.
The Buccaneers (15-3) will now prepare for their contest against Hutchison (Fairbanks, AK). The Hawks come into the 3A Aurora contest with a 3-11 record. In their last contest, Hutchison prevailed over Ben Eielson (Eielson AFB, AK), 53-48, in a league contest.
