Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM), 55-52 in a league bout.

With the win, Thoreau upgrades its record to 7-16 on the season. The Hawks travel to Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM) to clash with the Bears in a 3A District 1 bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 10-14. Wingate lost 59-47 in their recent league bout against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM)

Next up, the Thunderbirds clash with the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Monday, February 13. Zuni will attempt to upgrade on its 7-13 season record. The Skyhawks go into the bout with a 11-13 record after their 57-47 league loss to Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM).
