In Wednesday's non-league game, the host Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane baseball team scored a close 6-4 win over the Irwin County Indians.
The Purple Hurricane (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Lanier County (Lakeland, GA). The Bulldogs come into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Lanier County by Taylor County (Butler, GA), 8-7, in a non-league match.
The Indians now possess a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Echols County for a A D2 Region 2 match on Friday, February 13. Irwin County will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 10-1 league loss to Charlton County (Folkston, GA). The Wildcats record now stands at 1-2.
