St. James Wildcats (St. James, LA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Ascension Catholic Bulldogs (Donaldsonville, LA), 69-61 in a non-league bout.

With the win, St. James upgrades its record to 14-10 on the season. The Wildcats host Berwick (Berwick, LA) to clash with the Panthers in a 3A District 8 bout on Tuesday, February 13. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 5-20. Berwick lost 67-60 in their recent league bout against E.D. White (Thibodaux, LA)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Ascension Christian (Gonzales, LA) in a 1A District 8 bout, on Tuesday, February 13. Ascension Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 9-16 season record. The go into the bout with a 16-13 record after their 86-62 non-league loss to French Settlement (French Settlement, LA).
