The Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) basketball edged the host Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM), 40-39 in Wednesday's non-league bout.
The Bears now possess a 2-6 record. They play next when they travel to Navajo Prep for a non-league bout on Friday, February 14. Wingate will play a Eagles team coming off a 63-45 non-league win over Zuni (Zuni, NM). The Eagles record now stands at 5-0.
With the loss, Newcomb falls to 0-9 on the campaign. The Skyhawks host Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM) to play the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, February 14. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 3-2. Tohatchi won 55-37 in their recent non-league bout against Thoreau (Thoreau, NM)
