New Mexico High School Basketball - Newcomb nudges Zuni

In Monday's league outing, the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) basketball squad edged the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM), by a count of 71-65.

The Skyhawks (12-13) will now prepare for their outing against Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM). The Eagles go into the 3A District 1 outing with a 22-2 record. In their last outing, Navajo Prep held off Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM), 48-42, in a league outing.

The Thunderbirds now hold a 7-14 record. They play next when they travel to Tohatchi for a 3A District 1 outing on Thursday, February 16. Zuni will clash with a Cougars squad coming off a 59-47 league win over Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM). The Cougars record now stands at 16-9.
