In Thursday's non-league contest, the host New Waverly Bulldogs basketball team scored a close 47-40 triumph over the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls.

The Bulldogs (12-19) will now prepare for their contest against Brazos (Wallis, TX). The Cougars go into the non-league contest with a 15-14 record. In their last contest, Brazos was tipped by Hitchcock (Hitchcock, TX), 85-35, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Fighting Owls battle the East Bernard Brahmas (East Bernard, TX) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, February 18. Anderson-Shiro will attempt to better on its 17-13 season record. The Brahmas go into the contest with a 15-15 record after their 59-47 league loss to Boling (Boling, TX).
