The Powell County Pirates basketball team scored 54 points and restricted the visiting Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls to 43 in the Pirates league victory on Monday.

The Pirates now sport a 9-18 record. They put it on the line next when they host Menifee County for a non-league contest on Tuesday, February 15. Powell County will battle a Wildcats team coming off a 73-69 league loss to Fleming County (Flemingsburg, KY). The Wildcats record now stands at 12-13.

The Owls / Lady Owls (5-19) will now prepare for their contest against Jackson City (Jackson, KY). The Tigers come into the non-league contest with a 3-17 record. In their last contest, Jackson City prevailed over Red Bird (Beverly, KY), 64-39, in a non-league contest.
