Meridian Wildcats (Meridian, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Laurel Golden Tornadoes (Laurel, MS), 17-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Yazoo County for a non-league challenge on Friday, February 18. Meridian will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 20-10 non-league win over Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS). The Panthers record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Laurel falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Golden tornadoes host East Marion (Columbia, MS) to battle the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Friday, February 18. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. East Marion lost 22-1 in their recent non-league challenge against West Marion (Foxworth, MS)
