The Henning Hornets basketball team scored 59 points and held the visiting Verndale Pirates to 45 in the Hornets non-league triumph on Tuesday.
The Hornets now sport a 21-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bertha-Hewitt for a non-league contest on Friday, February 17. Henning will battle a Bears team coming off a 64-25 non-league loss to Pillager (Pillager, MN). The Bears record now stands at 6-16.
The Pirates (6-14) will now prepare for their contest against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (Walker, MN). The Wolves enter the A Section 5 contest with a 14-7 record. In their last contest, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley was defeated by Pine River-Backus (Pine River, MN), 60-58, in a league contest.
