The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Gallatin County Hawks (Junction, IL) and the visiting Pope County Pirates (Golconda, IL), observed Gallatin County's basketball team overcome Pope County by a score of 72-59.

The Hawks (9-17) will now prepare for their challenge against Cisne (Cisne, IL). The Runnin' Lions come into the non-league challenge with a 6-19 record. In their last challenge, Cisne dropped by Webber (Bluford, IL), 78-59, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates battle the Shawnee Redskins (Wolf Lake, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, February 18. Pope County will attempt to improve on its 5-18 season record. The Redskins come into the challenge with a 2-23 record after their 66-50 non-league loss to Egyptian (Tamms, IL).
