The Thoreau Hawks basketball team scored 59 points and held the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds to 57 in the Hawks league triumph on Thursday.

In their next game, the Hawks meet the Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) in a 3A District 1 match, on Tuesday, February 20. Thoreau will attempt to move on its 12-12 season record. The Bears enter the match with a 7-16 record after their 75-32 league loss to Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM).

With the defeat, Zuni moves to 10-14 on the year. The Thunderbirds host Newcomb (Newcomb, NM) to meet the Skyhawks in a 3A District 1 match on Tuesday, February 20. The Skyhawks enter the match with a record of 14-9. Newcomb won 81-41 in their recent league match against Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM)
