Girard Trojans (Girard, KS) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Baxter Springs Lions (Baxter Springs, KS), 47-43 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Girard upgrades its record to 13-5 on the campaign. The Trojans host St. Mary's-Colgan (Pittsburg, KS) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 20. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 17-2. St. Mary's-Colgan won 50-37 in their recent non-league bout against Frontenac (Frontenac, KS)

Next up, the Lions play the Riverton Rams (Riverton, KS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 20. Baxter Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 7-9 season record. The Rams come into the bout with a 13-6 record after their 74-41 non-league loss to Pittsburg (Pittsburg, KS).
