Shell Lake Lakers (Shell Lake, WI) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Grantsburg Pirates (Grantsburg, WI), 59-57 in a league bout.

With the victory, Shell Lake upgrades its record to 13-10 on the campaign. The Lakers travel to Clayton (Clayton, WI) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 22. The Bears come into the bout with a record of 11-11.

Next up, the Pirates play the St. Croix Falls Saints (St. Croix Falls, WI) in a non-league bout, on Monday, February 19. Grantsburg will attempt to upgrade on its 10-11 season record. The Saints come into the bout with a 4-18 record after their 48-42 league loss to Hayward (Hayward, WI).
