In Tuesday's league contest, the host St. John Paul II Lions basketball team scored a good 39-26 triumph over the Nantucket Whalers.
The Lions (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Martha's Vineyard Regional (Oak Bluffs, MA). The Vineyarders go into the Cape & Islands contest with a 8-9 record. In their last contest, Martha's Vineyard Regional topped Nantucket (Nantucket, MA), 37-32, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Whalers battle the Mashpee Falcons (Mashpee, MA) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, February 20. Nantucket will attempt to better on its 7-8 season record. The Falcons go into the contest with a 2-4 record after their 49-38 non-league win over Monomoy (Harwich, MA).
