Manistique Emeralds (Manistique, MI) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Newberry Indians (Newberry, MI), 70-31 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Manistique upgrades its record to 8-14 on the campaign. The Emeralds host Bark River-Harris (Harris, MI) to play the Broncos in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 20. The Broncos come into the bout with a record of 4-16. Bark River-Harris lost 79-48 in their recent league bout against Forest Park (Crystal Falls, MI)

Next up, the Indians play the Brimley Bays (Brimley, MI) in a Eastern Upper Peninsula bout, on Friday, February 23. Newberry will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record. The Bays come into the bout with a 7-14 record after their 70-48 non-league win over Carney-Nadeau (Carney, MI).
