The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars (Niobrara, NE) and the host Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack (Elgin, NE), observed Niobrara/Verdigre's basketball team knock off Elgin/Pope John by a score of 56-44.

The Cougars (17-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Elkhorn Valley (Tilden, NE). The Falcons come into the non-league challenge with a 24-0 record. In their last challenge, Elkhorn Valley prevailed over Wisner-Pilger (Wisner, NE), 57-44, in a non-league challenge.
