Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the East Union Eagles (Afton, IA) and the visiting Diagonal Maroons (Diagonal, IA), saw East Union's basketball squad hold off Diagonal by a count of 49-45.

With the victory, East Union upgrades its record to 4-12 on the campaign. The Eagles host Southeast Warren (Liberty Center, IA) to play the Warhawks in a Pride of Iowa challenge on Friday, February 3. The Warhawks come into the challenge with a record of 9-9. Southeast Warren won 67-42 in their recent league challenge against Martensdale-St. Mary's (Martensdale, IA)

Next up, the Maroons play the Lamoni Demons (Lamoni, IA) in a Bluegrass challenge, on Monday, February 6. Diagonal will attempt to upgrade on its 9-8 season record. The Demons come into the challenge with a 3-13 record after their 70-47 non-league loss to Lenox (Lenox, IA).
